The Catholic Medicines Center (CMC) is a Pharmaceutical production facility located at the National Catholic Secretariat, Accra.
CMC is owned by the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) under the supervision of the Directorate of Health, (DOH).
The facility started in 1985 as the Catholic Drug Centre (CDC) for the manufacturing of cough mixtures, paracetamol syrup, and antacid trisilicate as the main line of production.
CDC now operates under a new name (Catholic Medicines Centre) and manufacturing paracetamol syrup as the main line of production. In the new near future other products will be added to the production line.
CMC has a 7-member Board, Management and 17 members of staff, made up of Technicians, production assistants, security, cleaning, Finance and stores officers.
The main markets are the 36 Catholic Hospitals and 78 Clinics across the country. There is a distribution plan to deliver products at the door steps of the medical facilities. CMC uses some of the major transport agencies like OA, MMT, VIP and GPRTU to transport the paracetamol syrup to the facilities.
