
The Bishop responsible for Health, Most Rev. Emmanuel Fianu, SVD, has undertaken a duty tour to facilities in the Techiman Diocese.
His trip took him to the Mathias Hospital, Yeji, St. Theresa Hospital, Nkoranza, Our Lady of Fatima Health Centre, Abease, Pope Francis Clinic, Komfuorkrom, St. Dominic Clinic, Cherembo , Holy Family Nursing / Midwifery Training College , Techiman and Holy Family Hospital, Techiman.
The tour was to afford the Bishop the opportunity to interact with his staff, find out about the challenges they encounter in the daily discharge of their duties and to motivate them to perform at their optimum level.
He held meetings with senior management of the facilities and durbars with the general staff. Various concerns ranging from Human Resource/Welfare and Managerial/Leadership, were raised by the staff and addressed by the team accompanying the Bishop. The team comprised George A. Adjei Esq, Director of Health at the National Catholic Health Service, Mr. Ivan Essegbey, Senior Coordinator, Monitoring, Evaluation and Compliance, Mr. Lawrence Adjare, Senior Coordinator, Health System Management (HSM), Dr. Anita Appiah, Coordinator, Community and Institutional Care (CIC), Ms. Roberta Asiedu, Deputy Coordinator, CIC, Mr. Peter Batsa, HSM, Mr. Gabriel Nii Otu Ankrah, Deputy Coordinator, Communications/Projects and Ms. Abigail Yahaya, Deputy Coordinator, Events.
Bishop Fianu thanked the staff for accepting to serve humanity in such deprived settings when they had the choice to enjoy the niceties of city life. He acknowledged the challenges that present with serving in such communities and assured them of the Health Directorate’s effort and commitment at addressing all the challenges, gradually.
George A. Adjei Esq, used the opportunity to re-orientate the staff on the communication/ administrative structures of the National Catholic Health Service and admonished them to continue to deliver quality and compassionate care, to justify the confidence reposed in them through their training and professional practice.
The team also met with the Regional Director of Health for the Brong Ahafo Region, Dr. Kofi Issah, in Techiman, and deliberated on pertinent issues on health and the performance of the Catholic facilities in the broader healthcare delivery in the region. Dr. Issah spoke highly of the performance of the catholic facilities and singled out the tremendous role of the Holy Family Hospital in saving lives of the rampant road accident victims and cases on the Techiman-Tamale high way. He further pledged his commitment to ensuring the equitable distribution of medical resources that are assigned to the region for the benefit of the patients.
Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, Bishop of the Techiman Diocese, expressed his appreciation to his colleague Bishop and his team for the visit and their response to some of the challenges in his diocese. He shared some of the challenges he had encountered as the bishop in dealing with some of the immediate challenges encountered by the facilities and asked for closer collaboration between his diocese and the Directorate for effective healthcare delivery.
